March 16, 2020

Dear Members and Industry Colleagues,

The Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) has asked that we share with you the following information about immediate changes to Special Event Permits

In light of the latest government directive, all event organizers must cancel any gathering larger than 250 people. This includes both indoor and outdoor sporting events, conferences, meetings, religious gatherings or other similar events.

Alternatively, some event organizers with events less than 250 people may choose to cancel scheduled events to prevent the spread of the virus.

Effective immediately, the LCRB will be cancelling Special Event Permits for all events over 250 people scheduled up until March 31, 2020. LCRB will extend this date as required, following any further direction from B.C.’s provincial health officer.

In addition, LCRB will not be issuing any new Special Event Permits for events with over 250 people until further notice.

If you have questions regarding the cancellation of your event, please call the LCRB Client Support Team at 1-866-209-2111. Be prepared to provide your special event permit number and the date of your event.

The LCRB will continue to provide updates on their website. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact ABLE BC: 604-688-5560 or info@ablebc.ca
