Live workshop: workplace violence prevention training

March 26, 2018 @ 10:30 am - 2:00 pm

On Monday, March 26, 2018 from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm, ABLE BC is hosting a customer conflict management & workplace violence prevention training for liquor store, bar, and pub managers and staff. This live workshop will be facilitated by ARETE Training.

Customer violence generally occurs on a continuum rather than out of nowhere, for no reason. ARETE’s unique approach assists workers in understanding their role in customer escalation. When staff recognize that they have choice in how they respond, they are more likely to make safer and more effective choices in response to challenging behaviors.

Companies that attend ARETE’s training are pleased to see that their workshop not only provides the much needed practical skills to defuse situations but also enhances service motivation.

What is included in the 3.5 hour training:

  • Learn tools that can be used to defuse difficult and challenging situations that we commonly see in bars, pubs, and liquor stores
  • Learn how to be more assertive and proactive in difficult situations
  • Participate in role playing scenarios to practice how strategies can be used in regular, day-to-day scenarios
  • Light refreshments

Who should attend: anyone dealing with the public. This training is applicable to on-premise and retail stores.

Why should your staff attend? By completing this training, your staff will be capable of safely managing low level customer agitation through to extremely challenging and potentially threatening situations.

Training location: Labatt Beer Institute (1148 Homer Street, Suite 402)

Cost: $160 plus GST per person. Please contact Danielle Leroux to register at danielle@ablebc.ca or 604-688-5560.
