ABLE BC elected our 2017-18 Board of Directors at the Alliance’s AGM on October 23, 2017.
We are pleased to announce Al McCreary will be President of the Alliance for the next 2 years. “As the new President of ABLE BC, my goal is to help grow our members’ businesses by working with our Board and the new government to take advantage of new opportunities, and stabilize the rules governing our industry,” says McCreary.
Al, from Smithers, BC, is a long-time member of ABLE BC and former co-owner of the Hudson Bay Lodge. He was part of the founding Board in 2004, when the BC Liquor Licensees & Retailers Association, BC & Yukon Hotel Association, and BC Cabaret Owners Association joined together to create the present-day Alliance of Beverage Licensees. Al served as the Alliance’s President in 2006-07. Al also served 17 years on the Executive Committee of the BC Hotel Association Board.
ABLE BC sincerely thanks past President Poma Dhaliwal for his hard work on the Board. Poma served a 4-year term as President and lead the Alliance through the provincial liquor policy review and period of major industry changes. Poma will continue to serve as past chair for the next two years.
Poma shared a message in the fall 2017 issue of the Publican Magazine
ABLE BC also bid farewell to long-time Director and Treasurer Steve Smith. We thank Steve for his dedication to the Alliance and time served on the Board. Director Trevor Kaatz was elected new Treasurer of the Alliance.
The Alliance is pleased to welcome the following new Directors to the Board: David McQuinn (General Manager, Coast Hotels) and Barry Zwueste (CEO, St. Eugene Golf Resort and Casino).
