The LCRB has released Policy Directive 19-04 outlining a change to the choice of penalty policy. Download a copy of the policy directive here. A summary of changes is provided below.
Choice of Penalty: under the new policy, effective June 5, a licensee may be permitted to choose one of either penalty (monetary penalty or licence) suspension if:

  • It is the first contravention of a licence or authorization for the 24-month period preceding the contravention (prior to the new policy, it was a 12-month period)
  • the minimum of either penalty (monetary penalty or suspension) prescribed in the penalty schedule is suitable, and
  • they sign a waiver agreeing the contravention occurred
