Today, the LCLB released a new policy directive announcing new mandatory social responsibility material for all licensed establishments in BC. Background

In 2017, as part of the BC government’s commitment to encourage the responsible sale, service, and consumption of liquor, they released Alcohol Sense promotional material for mandatory posting in all licensed establishments.

ABLE BC is part of the Mandatory Display Advisory Committee, which developed the Alcohol Sense material in collaboration with other industry representatives, the Ministry of Health, LCLB, LDB, and Centre for Addictions Research of BC.

The committee has worked to improve the look and feel of the material and make it more appropriate to post in a broader range of member establishments.

Update Alcohol Sense material released today

There are now different versions of the Alcohol Sense material being mailed out, depending on whether the establishment provides on-premises consumption or is a retail store. Each establishment will receive 2 posters and 2 tent cards.

Licensees and liquor retail stores have until May 1, 2018 to display at least one of the new posters or tent cards, in a prominent location.

Old materials that have been previously provided as part of the Alcohol Sense program can be taken down or left up, at the discretion of the establishment.

To learn more about the materials created for on-premise, retail stores, and other licensed establishments please read the policy directive: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/employment-business-and-economic-development/business-management/liquor-regulation-licensing/policy-directives/18-02_alcohol_sense_mail_out_mar_2018.pdf
