Our Impact

ABLE BC has a history of successful advocacy for BC’s private cannabis and liquor industries.

Since our founding in 1975 as the Neighbourhood Pub Owners Association (rebranded as the Alliance of Beverage Licensees in 2004), we have been at the centre of every significant policy conversation impacting our members.

We succeed by building lasting relationships with all levels of government and fostering partnerships across complementary industries.

Our recent policy wins are listed below. Visit our advocacy page to learn more about our policy priorities.

Retail Wins

  • Extended the moratorium on new licensees to 2032

  • Allow private liquor retailers to sell to Special Event Permit holders

Advocacy

COVID-19 is the greatest challenge of our generation. The global pandemic has changed everything - and our industry will be impacted for years to come.

Since the start of the pandemic, ABLE BC has been working hard every single day to advocate for your interests, protect your businesses, and help ensure the survival of our industry.

We have a long road of recovery ahead, but ABLE BC is not going anywhere. No matter what happens next, please know we will always be in your corner, fighting on your behalf. But to continue our work, we need your support—now more than ever.
