I have been a member now for 10 years and feel I get more than my annual dues worth of helpful information and guidance that you provide.

I used to think that I was fairly self-sufficient in finding the information and answers I needed on my own. However, when I became a member of ABLE BC I realized it was so much easier to pay annual dues and have all the information I needed – and more – readily available through this association.

I have thoroughly enjoyed your annual BC Liquor Conferences. There was so much information available at these conferences, all of the speakers have been awesome, and I feel I am a better operator because of ABLE BC.

Advocating on your behalf since 1975

ABLE BC began as the BC Neighbourhood Pub Owners Association, founded in 1975. In 1999, it was renamed the BC Liquor Licensees & Retailers Association, to include LRS operators.

In 2004, the BC Liquor Licensees & Retailers Association, BC & Yukon Hotel Association, and BC Cabaret Owners Association joined together to create the Alliance of Beverage Licensees: a province-wide organization that would unite BC’s liquor licensees and effectively represent their interests.

Over the years, we have continued to unite industry. In 2017, the BC Private Liquor Store Association ceased operations and its members joined ABLE BC.

When recreational cannabis was legalized in 2018, ABLE BC saw an opportunity to support a new industry. ABLE’s deep understanding of government relations and liquor policy and regulation made us a perfect fit to advocate for private cannabis retailers.

In 2019, ABLE BC took over the administration of Barwatch and Hospitality Vancouver Association, and welcomed their members to the association.
