Dear ABLE BC members and industry colleagues,
We are delighted to share good news about cannabis samples! In response to ABLE BC's advocacy on behalf of our cannabis retail members, the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) now allows cannabis retailers to accept free product samples from federally-licensed cannabis producers and Cannabis Marketing licensees.
According to LCRB Bulletin 24-07: Updates to Cannabis Industry Sampling:
CRS and PRS licensees and Section 119 authorization holders may now accept free samples from federally-licensed producers (federal licence holders) and Marketing licensees.
Additionally, CRS and PRS licensees and Section 119 authorization holders may now share product samples they receive (from federal licence holders and Marketing licensees) with other cannabis store licensees and authorization holders.
Cannabis samples must be registered under the Cannabis Distribution Act.
Cannabis samples must not exceed the maximum amount specified by the General Manager of the LCRB.
ABLE BC has been pushing to remove the nominal sample fee for several months, and we are grateful to the LCRB for allowing responsible, licensed operators better access to product sampling.
We will continue to work with the LCRB on maximum cannabis product sample sizes and will provide updates as they are available.
