Introducing ABLE BC's Head of Cannabis Membership

Dear ABLE BC Members and Industry Colleagues,

BC’s Alliance of Beverage Licensees (ABLE) has long been the voice for the liquor and hospitality industry. Our track record of advocacy success is undeniable: securing wholesale pricing on liquor for hospitality, extending the Temporary Extended Service Area (TESA) authorization, allowing retailers to sell to Special Event Permit (SEP) holders, extending the moratorium on Licensee Retail Store (LRS) licenses until July 2032, and more.

ABLE is bringing this success to the private cannabis retail industry. With a new position, Head of Cannabis Membership, our cannabis retailer members will now have a dedicated point of contact and soon a new membership category.

ABLE BC’s Executive Director Jeff Guignard and Manager of Membership and Communication Ann Brydle remain committed to the liquor industry and our hospitality and retail members.

ABLE BC’s President, Yvan Charette, has said “as a cannabis retailer, I have seen first-hand the challenges facing BC’s cannabis industry. ABLE has been working to bring government attention to these complex policy issues and it has become clear to me that we need effective full-time advocacy if we are to succeed.”

It is with great pleasure that we announce Nick Landells as Head of Cannabis Membership. Nick has 15 years of experience as a liquor licensing and compliance lawyer in the UK. Since relocating to BC, he has been Manager of Legal Services for A&W Restaurants and the Head of Licensing & Compliance for a local cannabis retail chain. Nick brings a detailed knowledge of hospitality and cannabis licensing and compliance issues to the ABLE team. He has already strong working relationships with cannabis regulators and stakeholders.
