City of Vancouver Reusable Cup By-Law Webinar

  • Vancouver Vancouver, BC Canada (map)

Hello Vancouver ABLE BC members!

You are invited to join a webinar with Andrea McKenzie, Project Engineer for Solid Waste Strategic Services for the City of Vancouver on Thursday, April 28 at 1:00 pm. Andrea and Vancouver City staff to discuss the upcoming by-law changes to reduce the 82 million single-use cups disposed per year in Vancouver.

The City’s $0.25 cup fee by-law started on Jan. 1, 2022 and aims to reduce waste from single-use cups by encouraging customers to choose reusable alternatives as much as possible. Starting July 1, 2022businesses will be required to accept customers’ clean reusable cups. City staff are looking for feedback from businesses about how they are making reusable options available to customers, as well as hearing what scenarios may need to be exempt from the requirement to accept customers’ reusable cups. For example, alcoholic drinks.

In this webinar, City staff will present the draft by-law and seek feedback from ABLE BC members. Your feedback will be used to finalize the by-law amendments before they are enacted.

You can register for the webinar here
