BC Tourism and Hospitality Labour Market Information (LMI) Research Project
go2HR is proud to announce the completion of the BC Tourism & Hospitality Labour Market Information (LMI) research project. The project launched in January 2021 with the purpose of developing up-to-date and relevant LMI to provide the industry with the data needed to ensure a thriving workforce during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The LMI project created highly anticipated new analytical resources for labour recovery planning for the industry. The BC Tourism & Hospitality Employment Tracker tracks monthly employment metrics in the industry, by region and by worker demographics. The project also created 11 Workforce Profiles, providing in-depth information on key employment and demographics of the workforce offered from a provincial, sector and regional perspective.
The LMI Research Project Final Report details labour demand projections, recovery scenarios, and a summary of worker and employer sentiments about the industry, as well as recommendations to plot the path forward on labour recovery.

BCHA Webinar: Understanding Bill 10
The BC Hotel Association is hosting a webinar next week on Bill 10. This bill would make it easier for workplaces to unionize. We are deeply disappointed that government did not consult with industry on this legislation.
Click here to read a letter that ABLE and other industry associations wrote to Premier John Horgan expressing our serious concerns over Bill 10 and the impact it will have on labour relations in BC.
To offer education, resources, and support for members, BCHA is hosting an information session alongside the experts at Pulver Crawford Munroe LLP.
Some questions that will be addressed:
· What action can be taken prior to a Union organizing drive?
· How does a union “get in” to a company?
· What does certification mean? What is the process?
· What can management do or say during an organizing drive?
· What should management NOT do or say during an organizing drive?

Last week Ann and Jeff attended the Vancouver International Wine Festival. It was such a treat to get out and meet with members, celebrate our industry, and try out some tasty wines. At the opening seminar for of the Trade Days Conference, Pivoting the Pandemic & Beyond, some of BC’s leading wine professionals discussed the challenges of the pandemic, and some of the silver linings of the past two years. Panel members brought up some of the work that ABLE and our partners fought hard for, including the extension of TESAs, wholesale pricing for hospitality members, and allowing LRS members to sell to SEP holders.
