Update on BCGEU tentative agreement

Dear ABLE BC Members and Industry Colleagues,

A quick note today to clarify rumours many of you have heard about the British Columbia General Employee’s Union resuming strike action.

The BCGEU is currently conducting education sessions for its membership about the details of the tentative agreement it reached with government on Sept. 7. It is our understanding that BCGEU member will commence voting in mid-October.

To be clear, there is no indication that the union will engage in any strike action between now and then. Even if the union were to reject the agreement, it would seem highly irregular and illogical for the union to initiate job action before the vote on the tentative agreement has even taken place.

Should you have additional questions on this topic, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Executive Director Jeff Guignard at jeff@ablebc.ca.

Have a great weekend!
