Advocacy Win! Repeal of Cannabis Visibility Rules
Dear ABLE BC Members and Industry Colleagues,
We are pleased to share good news with our cannabis retail members today!
The Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) is repealing the visibility requirements from the Provincial Cannabis Licensing Regulation (CLR). Removing this requirement will improve visibility into cannabis stores and increase safety for licensees and authorization holders, staff, and patrons.
Please read Bulletin 23-04 for more details.
This change is in response to advocacy by ABLE BC and our industry partners. We heard your concerns about safety and are grateful to the LCRB for their understanding.
Display rules in the federal Cannabis Act are still in place, and the LCRB will introduce a term and condition prohibiting window displays of cannabis and cannabis accessories to people outside the stores. This change provides licensee and authorization holders more flexibility, while ensuring that cannabis and cannabis accessories will not be displayed to people outside the store, in keeping with the federal Cannabis Act.
