Dear ABLE BC members and industry colleagues,
The BC Lotto Corporation (BCLC) installed new machines in Liquor Primary establishments across the province in May, and the rollout has caused issues accross the network. Read the September 19 Liquor Industry Update newsletter for our last lotto machine update.
We are pleased to share that BCLC is working with ABLE BC to ensure a fair compensation package to compensate for lost revenue from the new machines. Compensation packages will cover May 1-September 27, 2024 and will be based off revenue generated in the same period in 2023.
We expect Bill Acceptors to be re-enabled this week once testing is complete and BCLC receives final approval from their regulator. Businesses will receive a notice one day before the Bill Acceptors are re-enabled to ensure your teams are aware of and ready for the change.
UPDATE: September 25, 2024: BCLC has confirmed that bill acceptors have been re-enabled across the hospitality network.
ABLE BC will continue to meet with BCLC senior executives weekly to resolve other issues with the machines. Rest assured, BCLC takes these issues seriously and is working diligently on a resolution.
We will provide further updates as they are available. If you have questions about BCLC, please contact Jeff Guignard, ABLE BC's Executive Director, at jeff@ablebc.ca.
