Day 1 Restart: Liquor, Cannabis, & Hospitality |
|
|
ABLE BC Members & Industry Allies - A Message from Bo Thank you all for your patience, endurance, and tenacity during the longest public strike in BC's history.
As you know, yesterday (Sunday), the BCGEU announced it has reached a tentative agreement with the provincial government. The picket lines on liquor and cannabis distribution have now come down and everyone is back at work while we wait for the BCGEU's ratification vote . More details are included in ABLE BC's full Sunday update here.
My intention in today's message is to:
1. Inform you that ABLE BC is advocating on your behalf and working closely with our government partners and stakeholders on a daily basis going into Day 1 of restart mode;
2. Provide you with the important information you need for Day 1 to kickstart things back up;
3. Assure you that we know the restarting the system will not be perfect in the first week, so it is important that you continue to share these issues with us and we focus on troubleshooting and solutions.
Lastly I want to commend our direct delivery and craft partners in both liquor and cannabis for their support during this strike. Without these options, both private retailers and hospitality would not have been able to endure these challenging times. Be sure to continue to check the available direct delivery section we have put together with other Industry Allies. If you have any questions or are experiencing issues relating to re-ordering & LDB operations,
please contact Bo Chen at bo@ablebc.ca. |

Industry Reordering Details |
Hospitality Customers Serviced by BCLIQUOR: -
BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) distribution centres have resumed operations and BCLIQUOR (BCL) is pleased to welcome back and serve hospitality customers.
- LDB Wholesale Operations is taking steps to expedite resumption of operations as quickly as possible, but it may take some time for service levels to return to normal.
-
BCL has set up 15 temporary Hospitality Hub centres where hospitality customers can purchase a selection of top selling spirits, liqueurs and import wine.
The quantity limits of six items per SKU, per day will remain in place for all in-store purchases of spirits available in BCL stores, including Hospitality Hub centres. LDB Wholesale:
BC Cannabis Wholesale: Retailers - As of Monday, October 27, the BC Cannabis is resuming wholesale operations following the conclusion of strike action.
-
Orders received before September 22: Richmond Distribution Centre (RDC) will focus first on fulfilling and shipping customer orders that were received before September 22, prior to strike action temporarily halting operations. Please remember that any orders placed between September 22 and the end of the strike action on Monday, October 27, prior to 8:30 a.m. have been (or will be) cancelled, and will need to be re-placed.
- Customers are invited to submit new orders as of 8:30 am today, October 27. Orders will be picked and shipped according to customer order cut-off deadlines. RDC is resuming operations today and is working overtime (including weekends) in an effort to manage high volumes and deliver orders to customers as quickly as possible.
-
For more information, including important details on order cut-offs, quantity limits and impacts on delivering timing, please read this memo.
BC Cannabis Wholesale: Licensed Producers - Receiving appointments: standing appointments will be rescheduled in order to accommodate shipments that were already enroute when Richmond Distribution Centre (RDC) operations were previously halted.
Supplier payments: For the first month following resumption of operations, the LDB will make payments weekly before reverting to regular payment terms. Product order quantity limits: To ensure equitable access to high-demand products, we are implementing a temporary 20 case limit per wholesale customer order on high-demand products.
Resumption of administrative services: Purchase orders, wholesale price changes, product registration, and return-to-vender processing will re-commence, but please be advised that there may be delays and changes to normal schedules and deadlines as our teams work through the backlog of requests. -
