BCGEU Begins Job Action

Dear ABLE BC members and industry colleagues,

As you know, on Friday, August 15 the BCGEU provided government with 72-hours notice of its intention to strike. This morning, the Union announced that targeted job action will begin today at 3:30 pm at select BC Liquor Distribution Branch wholesale and distribution centres

Picket lines will go up at the following locations:

  • Delta Distribution Centre (DDC) – 7003 72nd Street, Delta, B.C.

  • Kamloops Distribution Centre (KDC) – 9881 Dallas Drive, Kamloops, B.C.

  • Richmond Distribution Centre (RDC) – 3389 No 6 Rd, Richmond, B.C.

  • Victoria Wholesale Customer Centre – 2291 Government Street, Victoria, B.C.

Retail liquor and cannabis stores will not be part of this phase of the job action.

The job action will not impact ordering from BDL or local producers offering direct delivery.

We do not yet know the full extent of how this will impact your ability to order products, nor how long this strike will last. We are currently working with government on contingency plans to protect liquor distribution, and will continue to keep you updated as soon as further details become available.

In the meantime, please email jeff@ablebc.ca with details of any impact this strike is having on your business.
