BCGEU issues strike notice

Dear ABLE BC members and industry colleagues,

Earlier this afternoon, the BCGEU provided government with 72-hours notice of its intention to strike. This means strike action could commence as early as Monday afternoon.

We do not yet know what this will mean for your business. The BCGEU has not yet indicated whether they intend to disrupt operations at LDB Wholesale of BC Liquor Stores.

We will be communicating with government over the weekend and will offer details as soon as they become available. We are working hard to get the clarity you need to plan for your business.

In the meantime, the BC Liquor Distribution Branch has shared the following notice with us:

"As you may be aware, the BC General Employees’ Union (BCGEU) has provided 72-hour strike notice. It is entirely up to the BCGEU what form the strike action will take.

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) recognizes this news may be concerning for your members. Bargaining is a dynamic process and while we do not know the extent of any possible job action, the LDB will continue to take steps to minimize the immediate impacts to customers and industry partners. This includes continuing to maintain regular operations and customer service levels over the next 72 hours.

We commit to providing updates to industry on potential impacts as they become known and important notices will be posted on the LDB Wholesale Operations website at wholesale.bcldb.com. Any questions should be directed to: communications@bcldb.com

We value our industry partnerships and will continue to work together to serve our mutual customers."
