Important Service Update: LDB Wholesale Operations Restart Plans

Dear ABLE BC Members and Industry Colleagues,

Following today's good news that the British Columbia General Employee’s Union (BCGEU) is standing down strike action, the Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) has begun restart plans.

Restarting operations at the distribution and wholesale customer centres will begin Wednesday, August 31, 2022. We understand that industry is eager to see shelves re-stocked, and we want to assure you that the LDB will be working to fulfill orders as efficiently and fairly as possible.

We want to remind our members that it will take time for service levels to return to normal. Your patience at this time is greatly appreciated. LDB Wholesale Operations is allocating additional resources to support restart plans and replenish depleted inventory as quickly as possible.

LDB circulated this memo today, announcing that outstanding orders currently assembled in distribution centres will begin shipping on Wednesday, August 31 and customers will be notified by email when their order ships.

Communications will be shared as soon as possible with further details on:

  • When Web Store will be available and WCC Vancouver will start accepting orders

  • When new customer orders will be assembled and shipped

  • A new interim process to support vendor appointment bookings

We will offer further updates as soon as they are available.
