Urgent Update: BCGEU Standing Down Strike Action
Dear ABLE BC Members and Industry Colleagues,
We are delighted to report that the British Columbia General Employee’s Union (BCGEU) and the BC Government have made significant progress toward ending their labour dispute. As a show of good faith, the BCGEU is standing down strike action at the Liquor Distribution Branch’s (LDB) warehouses and ending its ban on overtime.
While both sides appear to be moving toward a tentative agreement, we are immensely grateful to the BCGEU for ending their strike action and restoring the flow of vital product to BC’s liquor, hospitality, and cannabis retail industries.
We don’t yet know when the LDB will restart operations and begin accepting orders. As thousands of licensees across BC seek to replenish depleted inventory, we are working with the LDB to understand how industry can best support the efficient and fair flow of goods from their warehouses. We will offer further updates as soon as they are available.
In the meantime, we wish to express our sincere gratitude to the negotiators and representatives from both parties who are working to put this damaging strike behind us as quickly as possible.
We will offer further updates as soon as they are available.
