COVID-19 Information for SEP Holders: March 16, 2020

Dear Members and Industry Colleagues,

The Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) has asked that we share with you the following information about immediate changes to Special Event Permits. This supersedes the previous notice sent on March 13, 2020 regarding changes to SEP.

In light of the latest government directive, and effective immediately, the LCRB will be cancelling Special Event Permits for all events over 50 people scheduled up until March 31, 2020. This includes both indoor and outdoor sporting events, conferences, weddings, meetings, religious gatherings or other similar events.

In addition, the LCRB will not be issuing any new Special Event Permits for events with over 50 people until further notice. The LCRB will extend this date as required, following any further direction from B.C.’s provincial health officer.

Alternatively, some event organizers with events less than 50 people may choose to cancel scheduled events to prevent the spread of the virus.

If you have questions regarding the cancellation of your event, please call the LCRB Client Support Team at 1-866-209-2111 (press option 1 for liquor, followed by option 2). Please be prepared to provide your special event permit number and the date of your event.

The LCRB will continue to update their website as the situation evolves.
